Founded by Amungme elders and youth
From Ancestral Lands, For the Spirit of Adventure.
PT Wisata Puncak Nemangkawi is an adventure tourism company based in Central Papua, Indonesia. We are proud to be the only expedition operator to Carstensz Pyramid (Puncak Nemangkawi) that is fully owned and managed by the indigenous Amungme people, the original stewards of Papua's highlands.
We are mountain people, born and raised in the shadow of the Sudirman Range. We combine deep local knowledge and cultural wisdom with international safety standards to offer an authentic, safe, and meaningful climbing experience.

Papuan Pride, World-Class Adventure
To make Puncak Nemangkawi a symbol of Papuan pride and a world-class adventure destination, while preserving our natural and cultural heritage.

Safe Access & Community Empowerment
Our company was founded so climbing our sacred mountain becomes a respectful journey into Amungme heritage, not merely an adventure.
Provide safe, professional access to Carstensz Pyramid
Empower local communities through sustainable tourism
Heritage & Cultural Connection
We believe tourism should directly benefit local people through economic opportunity, education, and cultural preservation.
Preserve the culture and values of the Amungme people
Bridge the gap between the outside world and our ancestral land
We Climb Here Because We Belong Here
Nemangkawi is the sacred mountain of the Amungme people. Every expedition we run is also a promise to keep the mountain, its valleys and its communities as we found them.
Leave No Trace
Every team member and climber follows Leave No Trace principles, from Timika to the summit ridge.
Zero-Waste Practice
We practise and teach zero-waste habits on every expedition: what goes up the mountain comes back down.
Respect for the Land
Climbers learn the spiritual meaning of the mountain and respect local customs, communities and sacred places.
Local Hands, Local Benefit
Guides and staff come from the surrounding highlands, so tourism benefits the communities who care for the mountain.
Giving Back to the Highlands
Part of every expedition supports the people of the Nemangkawi highlands. The activities below show the kind of programs we run.
Education support for highland children
School supplies and learning materials for children in villages around the mountain.
Mountain clean-up days
Guides, porters and volunteers collect and carry down waste from base camp and the approach routes.
Training for young local guides
Rope skills, first aid and hospitality training so young Amungme can build a career in mountain tourism.
